What cotton does

Your cotton pillowcase is working against you.

Cotton is rough at the fibre level and drinks up moisture. Every night it drags on your skin — pressing in creases — and roughs up your hair's cuticle, which is how you get frizz, static and breakage. It also wicks away the moisturiser you just paid for. Silk does the opposite: it glides, it doesn't absorb, and it stays cool.

  • 6A Highest mulberry silk grade
  • 100% Mulberry silk, no blends
  • 2 Sizes — Standard + Queen

Why silk

Four things cotton can't do.

Fewer sleep creases.

Silk's low-friction surface lets your skin glide instead of bunching — so you wake without the pressed-in pillow lines. Naturally gentle on sensitive skin.

Calmer hair.

Less friction means less frizz, static and breakage. Side and front sleepers notice it fastest.

Cool all night.

Mulberry silk regulates temperature naturally — no more flipping to the cold side of the pillow.

Keeps your skincare.

Unlike cotton, silk barely absorbs moisture — so the serum and moisturiser stay on your face, not your pillow. Certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

The silk

Real mulberry silk. Not 'silk-like'.

Most 'silk' products are polyester satin, or thin low-momme silk that frays fast. Ours is 22-momme, 6A-grade, 100% mulberry silk — OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified — and you feel the difference the first night.

Dense where it matters — 22 momme.

Momme measures silk's weight and density. At 22 momme this is substantial, opaque, durable silk — smooth and cool against your skin, not the thin, slippery stuff that frays in a season.

What's in it

100% mulberry silk
The highest grade of silk — long, uniform 6A-grade fibres. No blends.
22-momme weave
Dense and opaque. Heavier than the 16–19 momme most 'silk' products use.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
Independently certified free from harmful substances — safe against skin.

What's never in it

Polyester 'satin'
The fake silk most cheap masks/cases use. Doesn't breathe, doesn't last.
Silk-one-side blends
Some sell cotton-backed 'silk'. Ours is real mulberry silk both sides.
Harsh dyes & finishes
Excluded by the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification.

A better night for your skin and hair.

Polyester satin looks similar and costs less — here's what it can't match.

Momme is a weight measure specific to silk; polyester 'satin' is a weave, not a fibre — it can't make the same claims.

Care

Lower-maintenance than it looks.

A little care and a good silk pillowcase lasts for years.

  1. 01

    Wash cold

Hand wash in cold water only, with a mild pH-neutral detergent.

  2. 02

    No softener

Skip bleach and fabric softener — silk doesn't need them and they damage the fibre.

  3. 03

    Air dry

Line or flat dry in the shade. A cool iron on the reverse if you like it crisp.

  4. 04

    Enjoy

Two pillowcases on rotation keeps one always fresh.

My hair in the morning — wow.

Used to wake up with a frizzy bird's nest. Three weeks on silk and it's genuinely smoother. Not a gimmick.

No more pillow creases.

I'm 40-something and the morning face lines that used to take an hour to fade are just… gone. Sold on it.

Proper silk, proper weight.

You can feel the 22 momme — it's substantial, not the flimsy stuff. Washes beautifully too.

The reviews

What sleepers actually say.

Got questions?

The honest answers.

What sizes do you do?

Standard and Queen. Standard fits most UK pillows; Queen suits larger or continental pillows. Pick your size next to the colour above.

What does '22 momme, 6A grade' mean?

Momme is a weight measure unique to silk — 22 is the ideal for bedding: substantial and durable but still soft and breathable. 6A is the top grade of mulberry silk (long, even fibres). It's the difference between silk that lasts years and thin silk that snags.

Is it real silk — and is it certified?

Yes — pure mulberry silk on both sides, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified (independently tested free from harmful substances). A neat closure keeps your pillow tucked in place.

Does it really help my hair and skin?

Silk creates far less friction than cotton, which is what causes frizz, static and pillow creases — so most people see smoother hair and fewer morning face lines. We keep it honest: it's a friction-and-moisture story, not a miracle cure.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in cold water only, with a mild pH-neutral detergent. No bleach or fabric softener, air dry in the shade. A cool iron on the reverse if you want it crisp. (Hand washing is also the care your 12-month warranty asks for.)

Is it slippery to sleep on?

It's smooth, not slippery — the 22-momme weight gives it a substantial, grippy-enough feel. Most people find it more comfortable than cotton within a night or two.

What if it's not for me?

Two layers. 60 nights to love it — sleep on it, and if it's genuinely not for you, talk to us and send it back for a refund of the product price. And a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects (seams, the closure) — replaced free with just a photo. Email support@thesleepguard.com either way.
